2 crossings both passable. I was able to rock hop straight across, Katie had to go upstream for an easier crossing. |

A couple big blowdowns on the lower portion of the trail (below tentsite). The 0.5 mile branch to the left at the beginning could use new blazes.. bit hard to stay on trail. |

Oof. Not a fun hike today. Contemplated turning around when the road was closed, but decided to just deal with the long road walk (1.7 each way). Hike was great for the first 2 miles. But then spring snow all the way for the next 2.4 miles. Someone had recently hiked with boots only so the trail was all postholes. Actually ended up working for us as it created steps and stable snow for us. We used micro spikes only. We couldn’t really decide if snowshoes would even help. Trail was stable for the most part going up but then less so coming down. Still, one bad step and you could end up waist deep. It was super slow going, precarious, and overall not fun. All for 4.4 miles of new trail… Thank god for the gorgeous views up there! Did have a nice lunch. We didn’t summit either peak of Goose Eye as the goal was only to do the Wright Trail and we wanted no more than that. |
