Decided to stay east of the White Mountains today based on the forecast and the radar/satellite images.
No views of the White Mountains today (on good days there are fine views to the Whites). Nice views of the local hills and lakes today.
Nice trail to take beginning hikers and families. Many trail options to get to the summit.
Fire tower at summit is closed out.
Some wildflowers in the open woods; asters, harebell, goldenrod, yellow hawkweed
Strangely, there were many hikers from the western US today; two groups from Oregon, a large contingent from Montana, and a couple from Utah.
Also some local hikers like 1 year old Ben and his parents and a man from the Roux Institute - Northeastern Univ in Portland ME |
