| Water Crossing Notes: |
A whole lot... and they were all EASY!!!! |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Very good signs. No blazes (a good portion of this is in the Caribou-Speckled Mtn Wilderness), but easy to follow. A few blowdowns, none difficult. Saw some rather large ones that had notches in them. A lot of hard work done by the maintainers in this area where no chain saws, etc are allowed. Thanks! |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Should be fine. We saw one. |
|
| Bugs: |
Some mosquitos. No ticks, although some parts of the trail would be prime real estate for them. |

ATTENTION!!! This is from the lesser used, Bog Dam Road trailhead, not the more popular loop from Rt. 113. Just like our "back side of Tecumseh and Eastman" I highly recommend it. The only thing negative is that you don't get a waterfall like you do on the loop. But it is a nice gradual ascent. Many easy to cross streams, variety of woods, a lovely small wetland where Caribou joins Mudbrook, and solitude (I don't mind other people, but if you want solitude you are more likely to find it here).
Summit was gorgeous as usual. Even though we had heard distant thunder on the way up, we were able to enjoy the sunny summit for quite some time, while sympathizing with all those doing a Baldies Loop (we could see the storm over there). About halfway down we were pelted with hail, it was an amusing experience (pellets were tiny).
