Pond Brook Road, US/Canada Boundary Swath
A hike unlike any of the HH. The bushwhack to the swath is in decent shape but a bit wet in some places. Once on the swath it was a lot of up and down with great views peaking through on occasion. The Canadian hunting sheds were plentiful as were the salt licks. One moose skeleton is also on the trail. Plenty of other great sights that were completely unexpected.
More specific trail details:
Park at the spot 1 mile up Pond Brook rd. Follow the bushwhack .4 miles until it turns to big and eventually forest. Within 100 yards you’ll pop out on the slash.
Follow the slash 3.4 miles or so alternating between up and down the entire way.
Enjoy the canister and views, return the way you came. A GPS or marker will help you find where to leave the slash and head back to your car. |
