Comments
Comments: Began this hike around 9:30am. The old Zircon Road was a nice ascent, ground was still hard, a few snowy patches. There are still quite a few snowy/icy patches on the Zircon Trail itself. There is one section at around 1900/2000ft that is very icy. Micro-spikes would be helpful. Once past that section the rest of the trail was pretty easy to navigate. Bare rock at the summit. As the sun shined and weather warmed, coming down was a little dicey with slippery snow patches and slick mud (especially on the Old Zircon Road). Typical Spring conditions. Just be prepared for a little slipping and sliding. This is a great trail though and very well maintained. Good to get out and get some incredible views. Great bang for your buck!
