Comments: South Brother, party of 2 from Daicey Pond. Having laid tracks up North Brother on Friday 2 days prior (see our report on North Brother on 2/26), three of us attempted S Brother on Sunday (one turned back at the Brothers trail junction). New snow on Saturday had obliterated much of our work on Marston, including whatever tracks were laid by a party of 4 group that went up during the storm on Saturday (not sure how far they got), with a lot of deep drifts of dense powder on higher ground above the tarn. We re-broke Marston to the Brothers junction, then set out toward South Brother through unbroken dense snow, knee deep in places on the flatter terrain and hip deep on the spur trail to somewhat beyond treeline. WE took at lot of branches in the face and snow down the back. Many blazes that are eye-level at dirt were inches above the snow or buried. The summit area was mostly windblown, with remnant tracks showing from groups that ascended in the weeks prior to our trip. With just two of us we knew we lacked the legs to attempt Coe and did not try. We made short work of the Tote Road using skis on the way in and out.
