| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The entrance to Stratton Brook Pond Rd appeared to be plowed with room for a few cars to park near the beginning. Most of the trail is unplowed and serves as a snowmobile trail. The large parking lot for the AT on Route 16/27 is well plowed with room for many vehicles. |

| Comments: |
The trail was well broken out from the parking lot to Avery Col. We put snowshoes on about halfway up and were thankful for the televators/heel risers. The Fire Warden Trail becomes quite steep for the last mile and half or so. We broke trail out to Avery Peak and West Peak. There was evidence of recent traffic but the tracks were blown over and drifted in. Thankfully there was a firm base underneath so we didn't sink in to far. We decided not to venture over to the Horns as we were tired and there was no evidence that the trail had been broken out recently (if at all). Could probably get by with spikes the whole way but snowshoes might be helpful, especially if more snow comes this week. |
