Comments: Had a beautiful hike up the Bigelows on New Year's Day from the north side. Traction needed pretty much the entire way, lots of bare rock above treeline where I bare booted. Switched between Stabilicers and Hillsound microspikes as needed. Lower part of AT going up to Avery Peak thru the boulder field in Safford Notch had significant amounts of ice in spots. Never needed snowshoes.
