Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The description claims the road is a "high quality" gravel road with "some" deterioration. This is no longer the case, it's is now simply rough. DO NOT ATTEMPT in a low clearance vehicle. It's a bad spot to bottom out and break down.

Comments
Comments: This is a great trail, although it is a little difficult to get to. A high clearance vehicle is a must. The only other hiking party we saw were in a sedan. They gave up driving halfway to the trailhead, parked to the side and accepted an extra 3 miles of road walk. The shear amount of mileage on open ledges and above treeline is excellent. It rained last night, and the trail was quite soaked higher up. Parts of the AT are small lakes and slow to get around. There were even some icicles and rime ice in spots, nothing to threatened our traction. Winter isn't far away!
