All along the trail, we picked up three empty water bottles and a donut box with one donut still inside. We asked the suspected party about it (group of kids) and they denied it, but I wasn't convinced. Come on folks, this is Baxter. |

An iffy weather day with overcast skies and showers made this a good choice. There were still some really nice views up to Katahdin by the time we reached the outlook spur, but then clouds and rain moved in by the time we arrived at the pond. Still an amazing and beautiful hike though. We had a nice chat with the ranger there who reported that a group had gone up to summit. Definitely not a good day for that, but to each their own.
Foliage was absolutely spectacular in the park earlier this week, but a lot of it had been blown down when we left during Wednesday's monsoon. |
