| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at Appalachian Trail crossing on Stratton Pond Road. There are several spots to park nearby. There were several vehicles parked at Stratton Brook parking area. Nobody ventured down the road to park near the Stratton Pond outlet. |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
All were easy. There is now a foot bridge installed over the Stratton Pond Outlet (i.e., Stratton Brook). It used to be a tricky crossing. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There are a few duck under blowdowns on Appalachian Trail between the meadow area and Horns Pond Peak. There are several duck under and climb over blowdowns on the upper half of Horns Pond Trail. It is amazing how many blowdowns there are in that area. Those blowdowns have opened up some nice views, however. |

| Comments: |
Decided to do a Bigelow Horns loop, primarily because I had never done the Appalachian Trail stretch below the Horns Pond Trail junction. I also wanted to do the spectacular North Horn again. Haven't done that great peak in 17 years.
For what it is worth, I walked to what appears to be the high point of Horns Pond Peak. That consisted of briefly stepping off the Appalachian Trail and proceeding about 20 feet to a couple of bumps that were a few feet higher than the trail. Not sure if that was the official summit. Did not see a summit canister. There are two very nice viewpoints on the Appalachian Trail just below Horns Pond Peak that are definitely worth checking out. Never knew they were there. |
