Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: First one in parking lot and last one out. Pretty small parking lot but really does not fill up until after 8 a.m. sometimes according to the Ranger. A group of young men said they were at the South Gate right when BSP opened and bypassed everyone waiting for no-show Katahdin spaces. Takes about 35-40 minutes from gate to get to trailhead.

Comments
Comments: This was a challenging loop clockwise. If I had done a bit more homework, I would have realized going down the slide off a Mount Coe is pretty intense. Trail gains altitude pretty steadily from parking lot but also has some really wonderful flat areas. Views from the Brothers are outstanding! Ran into just a few groups and no one appeared to be doing the whole loop (more just about North Brother I think).

While the slide is challenging, just taking it step by step and slow, avoiding wet areas and slimy black wetness on rocks, and it worked just fine. I would never ever consider doing the slide during any type of rain. Going up to North Brother you are in a stream bed for a good portion closer to the top- but the rocks made it pretty easy to avoid getting wet and going down- again- just slow and steady because they are all wet rocks.
