|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There are 2 large blowdowns on the steeper section of the Wright Trail. One has roots blocking the trail. Folks have made a path around it. The second one also blocks the trail but there are 2 large logs off to the right (if you are ascending) that you can walk on. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Good hike for pups as long as they don't mind steep slab. I saw one VERY friendly young pup today. |
|
| Bugs: |
Yup, we have 'em! Plenty of flying gnats down low to get in your eyes, ears, and up your nose. Black flies on the summit of Goose Eye that were bad enough for me to put on my bug net. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
There is a baseball cap on the sign for the Goose Eye trail by the summit. |

| Comments: |
The trail is in nice shape overall. Down low, it is dry with a few areas of mud. There are some blowdowns down low but they are step overs. The mud gets more significant as you ascend the steep section but will likely dry up if we have more days without rain. The bogs between the east peak and the west peak are pretty typical of Maine. Some of the bog bridges are pretty deteriorated and there is one that will flip you right off if you step on it just right. Don't ask me how I know this. The Wright trail is easily followed as is the AT. Views are spectacular for sure! |
