Crossings on Parker’s Ridge and and Pond Link required some care, but were rock hoppable. |
|

Several birch blow downs on Pond Link that we’re not a big problem |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Good dog hike, except for the tortuous bugs |

Horrendous black flies and mosquitoes, especially down low! Head net was invaluable. Bug juice kept them from biting. |

| Comments: |
Tumbledown/Jackson is my favorite area in western Maine. Views were amazing. My original plan also included North Tumbledown and Little Jackson, but it was too hot and buggy. This was the first time I took the Pond Link Trail in 16 years. It it is nice, but pretty rough on the eastern portion. It had some cool birch glades. There was no snow anywhere. I did not see anyone else foolish enough to hike today. |
