Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was the fourth car to pull in at 6pm. Plus a couple on the road. There’s room for at least a half dozen in the lot before parking would get “creative”. I was one of the last ones there when I returned at 7pm.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing that isn’t bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No blowdowns I recall. The trail isn’t blazed but had arrows where it turns. It’s wide and well travelled so shouldn’t be a problem to follow. Just be careful of other paths that join it as seen on Gaia and mentioned in the guidebook.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: None seen but should be a fine trail for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: I did an out-and-back to the park boundary to redline this trail. Mostly sunny and around 50 when I started and down to the mid 40s when I finished. The trail seems to be popular for mountain biking which I imagine contributed to some of the mud pits. I saw two mountain bikers and a few more mud pits ;)

The trail is pretty dry to Tryon Mtn but then has some wet rock and mud beyond. The summit area was very cool with the quarry and pool but no views. Saw maybe 3-5 others out. The 2.4mi (about a mile each way to the boundary plus 0.2mi each way along the summit side trail to Tryon Mtn) took me 50min.
