The brooks were either snow bridged, rock hop, or stride over. The integrity of the snow bridge is questionable as there are some post holes to the water in places. The brook will open up soon. |

| Comments: |
There were no bare forest floor in the notch nor on the north side of Old Speck. The snow surface was mushy and slippery. The microspikes weren't especially effective in the soft snow. I side stepped some of the steeper pitches to reduce slippage. The path was pretty much boot prints. There was no snowshoe trench. Take care on the side hill sections considering the slipperiness of the snow particularly on descent.
The brook was flowing well today although snow hid most of the cascades except for the uppermost fall.
Saw one skittish gray jay at the tower.
The Mahoosuc trail leading southbound to Speck pond was unbroken. The Eyebrow Trail had been used.
When I was almost back to the trailhead I heard a cracking sound and the a rumble up on the cliffs of the Eyebrow. It was probably an ice fall or rock slide.
I saw ten other hikers in four groups. We practiced physical distancing.
In the parking area I met other hikers who hiked to Table Rock or Baldpate.
