Yeah, so... here’s the scoop. This trailhead can be a pain in the rear to find. ME 16 is a major road and is well maintained year round. Summer parking is on a large skirt off the side of ME 16 in Lincoln Plantation (northwest of Oquossoc). Winter parking is non-existent, unless you do as we did and dug out parking spaces from the snow bank. To find the trailhead follow ME 16 west to Lincoln Plantation. Then drive all the way to the dam, a large hydroelectric dam on the right. Turn around at Dam Rd. Reset odometer. Drive back the way you came (east) for 1 mile. Look to the right for a break in the pine trees. There are two thin bands of pink flagging tape tied around a very thin pine tree. This is the trailhead. You may not be able to see the break nor the pink tape if the berm gets too high. Use the dam and your odometer. This trail is on private land. |

A few blowdowns blocking the trail. I got one smaller one off the trail. Blazes are present and in good shape. Signs are up and also in good shape. |

This 3200 foot mountain is tucked in the remote part of northwest Maine. The trail is on private land and is well maintained by volunteers with excellent red blazing (including double red blazes for turns). Once in the woods you will immediately see blazes and after about a minute or two of walking you come across a neat trailhead sign.
The summit is not signed but is marked by a large carin and the foundation of an old fire tower. Views are 360 degrees including most of the Rangeley lakes, Saddleback and The Horn, Tumbledown, Mount Blue, Old Blue, Old Speck, the Gorham side of the White Mountains, and tons more I just couldn’t identify. Couldn’t quite make out Katahdin today but you can see it from this peak.
