| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We parked at the Sugarloaf Golf Course and bushwhacked to the Caribou Pond Rd. The logging road looked like it had been plowed for the early snow, but not for the last storm or two. Might be passable by high clearance 4x4 with good traction. There were some somewhat recent tire tracks. Wide tires and aggressive tread. A short distance after the bushwhack, there is a logging yard. The is about as far as I would attempt to travel by truck. Driving in would only shorten the trip by eliminating the bushwhack. |

| Comments: |
Bushwhack from golf course, Caribou Pond Road, Appalachian Trail
At the lower elevations there was only about 3 inches of snow. At the campsite before the steep climb (~2700') about 6 inches. We put on snowshoes here, more for the televators and traction for the climb. Half-way up the climb sections are wind swept and there was some exposed ice. Snow depth quickly increased with elevation. Maybe 20 inches at top of Crocker. |
