Comments
Comments: The Center Hill Snowshoe trail is open only in winter months. It is well signed and marked with pink flagging tape. During the first section there is both green and pink flagging tape. At the signed intersection for “The Rock” and the “Center Hill Overlook,” the green flagging tape marks the diverging path out to the rock while the pink flagging tape continues up the hill taking the hiker to the summit outlook.

Recent warm temps, rainfall, and lack of significant snowfall have kept snow at very low levels in this area (3-4 inches, max). There is not enough snow on the ground to wear snowshoes at any point on this trail. The ground is frozen, though which keeps boots from trampling the ground.

Very nice view of Webb Lake, Bald Mtn (Washington township), Saddlewind/Saddleback, Rumford Whitecap (I think), Tumbledown, Little Jackson, Jackson, Mount Blue and beyond from the summit’s open viewpoint.

The park is open from sunrise to sunset, though there is no gate at this location. This is a fee use area with an iron ranger and kiosk. See site above for fees. There are also miles of groomed snowmobile and ungroomed cross country ski trails diverging from the parking area.
