Date of Hike: Monday, August 5, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Oh my gosh. There were already 7 cars when we pulled up at 08:30. By the time we ended at 1pm the lot was full and cars were parked along side of the road. The official parking area is well signed off of Byron Rd.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One crossing that presents no obstacle with this dry summer. Normally rock hoppable anyway, this crossing has a multitude of rocks that will keep your feet dry.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Thanks, Maintainers, for taking care of those pesky blow downs on the upper section of Little Jackson Trail! If one has the time, the blue blazes on the upper portion of Little Jackson Trail could use some repainting.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Not so bad today. One mosquito bite and some noseems. The dry weather has curtailed the bug count.

Comments
Comments: Lovely, not often visited peak of Little Jackson offers fabulous 360 degree views including the Whites in the west, Rumford Whitecap, Tumbledown mountain, all the way around to Saddleback, the Horn, the Bigelows, the Crockers, and beyond. We were the only ones on this mountain all morning. Superb alpine blueberries helped us power up the last climb to the peak. Things just taste so much better at 3000 feet...
