Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail from Bull Run campsite up to Old Speck is very very overgrown. I could only tell where the trail was by the 12-18 inches of bare dirt. It looks like a game trail. The brush totally obscured the trail and at times was so dense and over my head. It was very slow going as there was no way to see ahead or walk at a reasonable pace. Each step required effort to move the brush so that I could see the next footfall.

Comments
Comments: Overall, this side of the Grafton Loop trail needs attention from Bald Mountain campsite to Old Speck. The farther we went North the more maintenance was neglected. The trails were overgrown but the worst overgrowth was between Bull Run campsite and Old Speck. The wooden ladders had rotten and broken rungs. Many of the bog bridges were decaying. The blazing was adequate enough that we were able to stay on trail. There was no water at Sargent Brook campsite. Believe it or not, we had a grand time.
