This is a local trail. Some very kind soul has put orange flagging tape along the steep path to the summit (maroon blazes are very faded). |

Surprisingly not so bad this afternoon. Head nets helped on the descent to keep buzzing deer flies off the head. |

Quick, fun, regional hike to the Sugarloaves (very discernible mountain couple in Dixfield, ME) to get some unusually pretty views of the Androscoggin valley all the way to the White Mountains. If you have never been, please refer to instructions in the Maine Mountain Guide or mainetrailfinder.com. Of note, at the portion where you are to turn right to begin the steep ascent of the summit; there is orange flagging tape and a medium sized carin tucked into the ferns. We missed the carin initially because of the foliage.
There are many old logging/woods roads and snowmobile trails on this little mountain. Follow the Guide instructions. There are also human residents. Please be respectful of private property. |
