Comments
Comments: Currently you have to hike in 1.4 miles on the North Rd. to the trailhead. From there it is two more miles on trail to the summit. The North Rd. is well packed from snowmobile traffic. We only had two pass us. About the first half mile of trail was well packed. After that we were breaking trail the rest of the way. Once you gain a little elevation, there is so much snow. We were postholing in snowshoes up to our knees fairly regularly. Once you've gained a bulk of the elevation, the trail corridor is buried. The height at which they cut the branches back for summer use (about 7 feet?) was between our ankles and knees. This meant we were bushwhacking even when on trail. Slow and frustrating. It took us 4 hours and 45 minutes to reach the summit. The trail is broken now, but I'm not sure how much of that will remain after tomorrow's snow. It was a bluebird day at the summit. Surprisingly our first of the winter.
