Nice conditions for snowshoeing. Brought spikes but no need for them. We followed tracks to the Second Step, where they stopped. It felt a hair too steep for me at that point, and while we probably could have clambered up / down it in a pinch with minimal casualties... We decided we were all set. Great persistent climb is a nice workout especially in snowshoes. I'd recommend this peak (even if you just stop where we did at the well marked Second Step) to folks looking to get into winter hiking. Easy to follow with blue blazes and great views at 0.9miles in. |
