Took Enchanted Mountain Road 2.3 miles in from US 201, 10.5 miles north of The Forks, in decent shape, though high clearance is recommended. |

The snowmobile trail up to the top of the old ski area and radio tower was in good shape. Beyond the gate just uphill from the tower, the trail proper leaves the snowmobile trail on the right at a small cairn. It is more of a herd path than anything else, narrow, with some blowdowns to navigate, and an indistinct treadway. Took the snowmobile trail back to the top of the ski area, taking a left at the fork, where the more distinct trail goes right, it then loops back to the radio tower. |

From Kibby Mountain, we drove the rest of the way along Beaudry Road to Spencer Road, then took that out to US 201, exploring a waterfall, and the POW camp along the way. Very little evidence of the former Enchanted Mountain Ski Area exists, though the trail up to the top of the area follows what appears to be the last of the trails. The trail/herd path from the top of the ski area to the summit is ridiculously steep, gaining 400+ feet in 0.2. Like Kibby earlier, the tower is still standing, though looks to have been taller, as structural remnants have been tossed off into the woods. The observation platform here is metal, and very solid. The summit features a large quonset hut and solar panels, and plenty of broken glass and beer cans, though these don't detract from the views all around. Followed the snowmobile trail down to the top of the ski area, though be careful at the fork, as the other trail appears to head down the other side of the mountain. |
