Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Google driving directions to Elephant Mountain,Andover Maine and drove 3 miles to flat area and the fire ring about a couple hundred feet shy of the fork at the end of the road. I drove an Audi Q5 all wheel drive in a bumpy and wild ride, maybe others are nicer to their cars but I had no issue.

Comments
Comments: A hiker was returning to his car as we pulled in to park next to his car. We walked a couple hundred feet to the split in the road and there is a rock cairn on the left. Foot bed well worn along the old but growing-in logging road with some wet squishy places. We stayed left at intersection of herd paths, beware the random flagging especially down low. following worn foot bed was best bet. Herd path led us to marshy area and we went around left side of it and the found herd path again and followed up. Remember, please, gently set canister caps on they don't need to be shoved on tight! Some one left prayer flags on high point, we let them be. We didn't touch that elephant nose, too scared of germs. We retraced steps on our way back down but we did walk out to a big fir wave to attempt to see a view, not much. Thanks Charlie for pretending to be a moose. After hike we drove up to the big lake and checked out the South Arm, wow its lovely. We also saw Nobo thru hikers crossing the road!
