No issues with parking. There were only a few cars in the lot. Plenty of room and it was cleared of any snow/ice. |

Water crossings were mostly frozen. Had to watch your step so you didn't break through the ice. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There were a few blowdowns on the trail, but someone had already been through there and cleaned off the limbs. It was easy to step over or duck under the remaining tree. |

Dog made it up to the summit without any issues. |

It's winter in Grafton Notch. The higher summits now have snow and ice. The Old Speck Trail at the bottom (from the trailhead to the eyebrow junction) had a dusting of snow with ice on the trail. The river that runs alongside the trail was icing over. The trek to the summit was a mixture of snow (1-2inches) and ice. Microspikes are highly recommended. The nearby Baldpates and Sunday River Whitecap looked equally frosty. With the high winds today and the rime ice covered ladder, the fire tower was dangerous to climb. Even though it was cold with the wind chill, the snow-covered summit of Old Speck was beautiful! |
