| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Drove in Straton Brook Pond Road (dirt road). Significant mud due to thaw, four wheel drive needed to get all the way to parking area at inlet. Car was fish tailing quite a bit. High undercarriage clearance likely needed for uneven terrain and rocks. SUV and pickup in the lot when we arrived. |

| Comments: |
Blue skies in the valley, but socked in on the mountain. Out and back on the fire warden's trail, hitting both of the four thousand foot Bigelow peaks. No one on the trail except for us, but plenty of footprints. Drizzle on the way up, turned to snow/freezing fog at the top. Trail had thawed and some mud at lower elevations made for a couple of slips and falls. Slushy few inches snow and ice for last mile. Was warm enough that wet rock provided traction so we left the micro spikes in the bag and wore boots all day. If it was colder spikes would have been needed. |
