Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Near Thoreau's Cabin historic Site, the BCT trail signs were a bit confusing - I wound up wandering other trails for a good 20 minutes before I circled back and found the route along the trail next to the pond. It can be confusing finding the blazes (amongst all the other blazes). Also, very confusing where to go once you cross Route 2, into Walden Reservation - the blaze where to enter the reservation was a bit hard to see and the snow plowed along the edge of the road showed no beaten pathway. I had to go back and forth a couple times to find the way.

Comments: Bay Circuit Trail (BCT): Emerson-Thoreau Amble, Woods Rd, Pond Path, Esker Trail, Fire Road

NOTE: Pond Path around Walden Pond is one-way. Also, signs say no running on the Pond Path. Very fun out-and-back. About 8 miles round trip, including the times I couldn't find the correct trail so I had to go back-and-forth a bit to find blazes in places. I jogged most of this. Areas near Walden Pond were very icy - frozen footprints. I carried traction but could get away without putting it on. A good 3-6" of pretty solid snow that was softening up. Nice views and a pretty route. Lots of people along the routes. I will do more of the BCT as I get time.
