Comments
Comments: Stayed somewhat local. I though this was a 2.5 mile loop but turned out more like 4.8 miles to circle the lake and "The Basin". Winnikenni Castle, which is on the property, is closed, but you can walk around it. NOTE: big signs that face masks are required but the reality was a bit different... I'll leave it at that. ANYWAY, snow was I guess 6+ inches thick, somewhat slushy on top, lots of foot print divots. If it warms up much more, it will be difficult to do without snowshoes. I just used goretex sneakers and was able to jog most all of these trails - kind of like running in sand.... s l o w but low impact. Very scenic. At the northern end, the trail does not go along the water because the water treatment plant is in the way, but you can walk along the berm which was quite slushy and had a few duck dropping on the bare earth areas.
