While we can go to NH, coming back to MA after being in NH is a little trickier regulation-wise. So here we stay (well, Plaistow town Forest may be o.k. - short trip over the border allowed).
For now, two short walks not far from home. 1. Whittier Birthplace has a short interpretative walk corresponding to lines from his poem "Snowbound." Nice open fields, Whittier family cemetery, a stream with an old mill on the edge of the property near Rt. 110. 2. Meadowbrook is a large property, the Milldale Reservoir is on it. We came in from Middle St. and there are two other entrances. Nice woods, 4 or 5 miles of trails. Not too far from Kenoza Lake, which is often crowded, you can come her instead to socially distance yourselves. This entrance is down the street from the Sons of Israel Cemetery and Turkey Hill Farm. The farm has berry picking in summer and Christmas tree cutting right now; if you like those activities you can include these short walks as well. |
