Mt. Holyoke + Two Sisters
Fabulous get-back-in-hiking shape trail with lovely views west to the Berkshires across the Connecticut and up to Monadnock. Summit House remained closed (portajohns in parking lot) but had enjoyed the nice views from the porch. Busy trail with plenty of fellow hikers but most wore masks and it was easy to socially distance. We only went as far as the 2nd “Sister†outcropping marked “897†on the state park map after Taylor’s Notch headed East, a little after the Black Rock/Lithia Overlook trail break off - I couldn’t convince the others to go further - but the many pointless ups and downs gave the legs some work. Can’t wait to come back and meet the rest of the Seven Sisters, and do Mt. Hitchcock and Bare Mtn as the next trek. Also I was glad I downloaded a GPS-enabled map into Maplets app prior to the hike.
Not to be missed: Barstow’s Creamery for ice cream post-hike. Salted caramel with mini PB cups. Yum. |
