A few spaces near the kiosk. Riverbend Crossing Condominiums have graciously granted an easement for the parking area and first several hundred feet of the trail. Thank you! |

Believe it or not, three! Two tiny little streams working their way down to the Shawsheen. Not sure whether they are vernal, run off, or permanent. At the very beginning there is a larger one with a nice bridge. |

Nice little walk along a meandering river. Historical note - right by the kiosk there is a herd path taking you to remnants of an old bridge that once connected North Andover with the North Parish section of Andover. North Parish was sold to the Lawrence Brothers in the 19th century to create their industrial center (AKA The Great City of Lawrence).
Be forewarned that if you don't like highway noises or houses visible from the trail you will not like this. The best I can compare it to is the lovely walk along the Charles in Watertown, albeit a mini version. There is one area where there is a large flat open ground near the river (guide mentions a bench, we did not see one), a good place to be like Bob Dylan ("I'm just sitting here watching the river flow."). The trail ends abruptly near a marshy area where you can see the back of the North Andover Market Basket in the distance. There were a lot of pretty white wild flowers growing here. Good place if your time is limited and you live in the Merrimack Valley. |
