Comments
Comments: Nice moderate hike. No snow at the start, about 3" at the top. A few muddy sections, but easily manageable if you wear boots. The last 20 minutes there was increasingly some ice below the snow. Where the trail crosses the car road 5 minutes from the top, we decided to walk up the road rather than chance the ice. (People coming down had warned us that this last bit was very slick.) By using the "road bypass", my buddy made it up & down without spikes with just a couple of minors slips. I put on spikes for the descent and was happy I brought them. We saw about 20 hikers -- it was easy to maintain appropriate social distance at all times. Weather was mixed sun & clouds -- nice enough to get the full "five states view."
