Ice when we arrived at 9:45a but was muddy at 11:45 when we got back down. There were a couple of cars early on but the parking lot was full at noon with cars parking along the street. |

One probably could attempt it without microspikes but I was thankful to have them as the lower part of the trail was straight ice where the snow had turned to slush and refroze over night. Actually most people we passed throughout the morning had spikes on of some sort. Once the trail turned the corner to run along the stone wall the conditions got much better. Still well packed crunchy snow/slush but not the ice. Soft snow at the summit but rocks were exposed to rest and hang out. The lower part of the trail was softening as we came down. Beautiful hike given the crazy February temperatures. |
