| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
WOW! The Trustees of Reservations has gone big time with this property! They have created a parking lot; don't have to worry about your dogs or kids when they are getting in and out of your vehicle. All trails have signage and are color coded, nice maps at the kiosk. In recent years there has been selective cutting of shruberry, trees, etc. (this was done at the much larger Ward Reservation as well). Although this is done to create habitats for certain critters, humans get nice views out of it as well. Certain areas are fenced to protect revegetating areas. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Wonderful for dogs. I know only responsible hikers read this website and it's not your fault, but a few folks need a course in waste management. Also, the lakes bordering this property provide North Andover with drinking water, so NO SWIMMING! |

Stevens Trail (yellow), Weir Hill Trail (blue), Scrub Oak Trail (red), Alewife, Cochichewick, and Edgewood Farm Trails (yellow)
Good local spot with a great variety of views, plants, etc. I mentioned light traction because the areas with very little sunset would have been good for that. The high point, Weir Hill, fully exposed to sun, was muddy. You can see Wachusett and Monadnock from here. In the summer there are low bush blueberries. Property borders the Stevens Estate, the yellow trail near Lake Cochichewick connects here. Stevens Estate is a destination in its own right, but that is a report for another day. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and in the 60s, so you probably won't need the traction.
Thank you, Trustees! |
