Comments
Comments: Easy hike, but very muddy and wet. When we reached West Sidw trail, we took the road up and back from there, except that we used some of Mountain House Trail to ascend. Some trails not usable in winter as they cross the slopes, so we had to "bushwhack" along the slope up to one of the roads to take a different trail. Finding Balance Rock Trail is confusing; we took an old unmarked path, thinking it was the Balance Rock Trail, and ended up on Bolton Pond Trail entirely by accident on the ascent. Outstanding views for relatively little effort, but very cold in the wind; not much protection from elemwnts, especially on thw roads and aummit. Occasional icy patches, easily avoideed BUT there was one under leaves that got me, so be careful!
