Trails
Trails: Estabrook Road, various trails
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Wednesday, July 26, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The Monument Street trailhead is obscure. It looks like the driveway to 873 Monument Street, marked by a green mailbox. The gravel path leads to a kiosk, with maps, that you can't see from the Street. Parking on the Street for a few vehicles. I used the Estabrook Road trailhead, as described in the Trail Guide that accompanies the Map, available on-line. Parking for 5 or 6 vehicles.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One easy step-over brook.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All in good shape, but no blazes or signs except for the Trails in the Punkatasset Conservation Land, off Monument Street in Concord.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Popular for them, I gather. Mainly flat trails and lots of water.
Bugs
Bugs: Pesky midges kept me moving. Tick protection a prudent necessity.

Comments
Comments: Estabrook Road (unpaved); trails shown on Concord's Estabrook Woods Trail Map.

Off the Bay Circuit Trail, so I had missed this fine network. It includes the only section of the Minutemen's route from Carlisle and Chelmsford to Concord's North Bridge on April 19, 1775 that remains in its original condition. There is an impressive milestone two miles from the Bridge and the absence of people made it easy to imagine my way back in time.
