The Cheshire Harbor Trail was a very easy, but not particularly scenic route to the top (follows an old road almost all the way to the AT). My Dad joined me on this hike, and I wanted him to enjoy the MA high point without dying of exhaustion, so C. Harbor was the plan. Fortunately, the 0.75 mile hike to the top on the AT was much more scenic. The summit was far less crowded than I thought it would be, which was a plus. What was not a plus was that on the way down, we had to hide in a shed off the AT for over a 1/2 hour to dodge a severe thunderstorm that rolled through. Oh well, it added to the adventure!
6.3 mi roundtrip, 2,100 ft. of gain, 3.25 hr. personal book time not including our summit break and our refuge in the shed. |
